OK fight fans here we go! On Saturday, March 6, 2010, Live at 10:00 pm on Versus, WEC invades Columbus, Ohio with a stacked card headlined by a world bantamweight title fight between champion Brian Bowles and number one contender Dominick Cruz. Former bantamweight champion Miguel Angel Torres takes on Joseph Benavidez to start his climb back to a shot a the title. If the card wasn’t stacked enough we also get the return of the former UFC lightweight champion Jens Pulver. This fight card is going to be fill to the brim with a ton of action. Cruz vs Bowles should turn out to be something special followed by great match with Torres vs Benavidez.
MAIN CARD
•Dominick Cruz(14-1-0) vs. Brian Bowles(8-0-0)
Bowles first title defense should be a incredible fight. Bowles not only put up his title but he also puts up his undefeated record. Bowels’s last fight was against Miguel Torres where he just dominated the champ and at 3:57 in the first round KO’d Torres to take the belt.
Cruz has only one loss on his record and is on a five fight win streak. Cruz’s last fight was against Joseph Benavidez where he won by decision.
Cruz is very good and deserves a shot at the title but I believe Bowles has the tools to end this fight. I don’t think Cruz can handle Bowles power.
My prediction:Brian Bowles
•Miguel Torres(37-2-0) vs. Joseph Benavidez(11-1-0)
Miguel Torres’s last fight was against Brian Bowles, where he lost his title by a 1 round KO. Torres is looking to get back in line for a shot at the title with a win over Benavidez.
Joseph Benavidez’s last fight was against Rani Yahya where he won by a devastating knock out in the first round. Benavidez’s only loss on his record was handed to him by Dominick Cruz. If he had won the fight he would be facing Bowles and a shot at the title.
This should be fight of the night right here. Torres has got the true heart of a warrior and is looking to get back to his winning ways. Benavidez is looking for a win so he can get his shot at the title. Both of these guys like to throw hands and can get it done on the ground. I believe the winner will be the one who wants it more.
My prediction: Miguel Torres
•Jens Pulver(22-12-1) vs. Javier Vazquez(13-4-0)
Jens Pulver has lost his last four fights, twice to Urijah Faber, once to Leonard Garcia and his last fight against Josh Grispi. This could be the last time we ever see Little Evil in the cage, if he can’t pull off a win.
Javier Vazquez has lost his last two fight against Devidas Taurosevicious and L.C. Davis, both by decisions.
Jens could make his last stand in the cage on March 6, so I bet he has hit the gym hard and will come out ready to throw down. Jens should have the advantage in the stand up game, but I will give the ground game to Vazquez. Because of all the great fights Jens has put on for the fans all these years I’m going to pull for him and hope he walks away with the W.
My Prediction: Jens Pulver
•L.C. Davis(15-2-0) vs. Deividas Taurosevicius(12-3-0)
L.C. Davis last fight was against Diego and he won by decision. A win here would move Davis one step closer to shot at the title.
Deividas Taurosevicius last was against Mackens Scherier and he won by decision.
Taurosevicius is not known for his great stand up game and this should give Davis big advantage. Taurosevicius is much better on the ground than Davis so this fight really come down to the old classic strike vs grappler.
My predictions: L.C. Davis
•Karen Darabedyan(9-1-0) vs. Bart Palaszewski(33-13-)
Karen Darabedyan last fight was against Rob McCullough and he won by decision. He is on a 7 fight win streak and will be looking to make it 8.
Bart Palaszewski last fight was against Anthony Pettis and he won by decision. He does’t have the greatest record in MMA but he has fought some of the greats.
These guy are both equal on the ground and can both throw hands. This should turn out to be another great fight on this fight card.
My Prediction: Bart Palaszewski
PRELIMS
•Diego Nunes vs. Leonard Garcia
My prediction:Leonard Garcia
•Scott Jorgensen vs. Chad George
My Prediction:Scott Jorgensen
•Anthony Pettis vs. Danny Castillo
My Predcition:Anthony Pettis
•Bendy Casimir vs. Ricardo Lamas
Myt Predciton:Ricardo Lamas
•Courtney Buck vs. Fredson Paixao
My Prediction:Courtney Buck
•Chad Mendes vs. Erik Koch
My Predciton:Chad Mendes

Gotta love free fights. They start in about a half an hour and its on cable…not bad, can check my pro line tickets too cause its on THE SCORE. Been checking out some Pulver highlights on youtube and I hope the fight is as good as some of those. I hope we see some KO’s tonight just like the one Bowles had against Torres. Love the KO’s and love the fix this free WEC card is providing, March is stacked with some cards. Still 3 UFC cards to come!

Wow Pulver just looked terrible in that fight, time yo call it a career , no need to get beat up like that! Dominated totally on the ground, and wasnt really throwin in the standup at all. I feel sorry for lil evil. REST IN PEACE!!!

Cruz really was a snake in that fight. I give him props for the win but I’m not a fan of his running in and out style at all. He was very much a counter puncher and I was hoping Bowles would catch him the whole fight. Torres got pimped like a dirty ho his whole fight , what a beat down , I dont think that should have been subm. of the night though because the arm bar Bart pulled sank in his fight was remarkable concidering he was being destroyed the whole fight up th that point. Great nifgt of fights though, WEC really put on some good fights and the next one (the pay per view) should be even better.

ur right they were good fights, and yes barts armbar should of been the sub of the nite hands down.that standing choke was sick too.(picked him up choked him out and drop him on his head lol)i was a lil shocked that bowles just gave away the title like that cuz of a broken hand, just shows that he dont have the hart of a champion!how many times have we seen a fighter push forward after a broken hand, nose, bad cut,ect and win or at least put on a good fight.id give him more respect 4 getting ko’ed then giving up

Big E those litle guys are always breaking their hands eh. I’m pretty sure Faber has the same issue, I wonder if its just a weight class thing or if its just a coincidence. Shaakz I think he should have tried to carry on because he was champ too, and Faber faught like 4 rounds with a broken hand vs Brown, he lost but he got mad respect for doing it. GSP beet up Alves with a torn hammy and Sanchez kept answering the bell vs Penn and he was F’d up after the 1st round.
