Ok fight fans WEC44 Brown vs Aldo is now in the books. If you missed it, I would highly recommend you watch the rebroadcast on the VS network. This WEC event was packed full of action and when the bell rang, fireworks went off. The very first fist was awesome and it just got better. Great fight card that the WEC put together. Lets get to it!
The main card
Shane Roller vs Danny Castillo
In the first round Castillo land some nice body shots. Roller responds with some hard leg kicks. These guys battle back and forth for the entire first round. Castillo getting the better of Roller.
Round two: Castillo throwing more punches, but not hitting much. Roller trying to catch Castillo with a knee as he tries to shoot in. They end up on the ground and Roller trying a rear naked choke with out success.
Round three: Castillo seems a little gassed as they scramble on the ground for position. Roller takes Castillo back and It’s all over but the crying. Castillo taps out from a rear naked choke.
Karen Darabedyan vs Rob McCullough
I’m not going into to much detail because you have to see this fight. These guys put on a great show and beat the hell out of each other all three rounds.
I was very impressed with Darabedyan’s striking ability. He let his hands go and he had pin point accuracy. I would like to watch this fight again my self. Thank God for DVR service. Darabedyan wins by split decision.
Manny Gamburyan vs Leonard Garcia
Manny and Garcia put on another great fight. They beat on each other all three rounds and put on a hellava show. The first round Manny pushed the action stalking Garcia. Manny had no trouble letting his hands loose. They we in the clinch against the cage, Manny landing a couple of knees south of the boarder. Manny trying to get Garcia to the ground, but Garcia will have none of that.
Round two: Manny still trying for a take down with out success. They trade punches back and forth until Manny finally gets a take down. Manny works some ground and pound the round ends.
Round three: They trade punches, Garcia gets frustrated and drops his hands begging Manny to hit him. Manny will not take the bait to get into a swinging contest with Garcia. Manny takes Garcia to the ground and that’s the end of the fight. Manny Gamburyan wins by decision
Jose Aldo vs Mike Brown
In the first round, they feel each other out and then the punches start flying. Brown landing a couple of nice right hands, but Aldo returning with his own right hand. Also he’s landing some hard leg kicks. Brown maybe a little overwhelmed with Also’s speed and power and decides to go for take down with no success.
Round two: Brown come out swinging. Aldo remains calm and gives Brown a nice spinning back kick. Brown again tries for a take down without success. Aldo slips under Brown’s punches and now Brown is on his back. Aldo mounts Brown and in the scramble to get out he gives Aldo his back. The beginning of the end for Brown. Aldo just pounds away until the ref stops the fight. We have a new WEC featherweight champion and his name is Jose Alsdo. I can’t wait to see Aldo vs. Faber that will be a great fight.
