Vitor Belfort out of UFC 112

by James on February 11, 2010 175 views to the Head

Well fight fans more bad news, report are coming out that Vitor Belfort has withdrawn from UFC 114 due to a shoulder injury. Belfort was scheduled to fight middleweight champion Anderson Silva in Abu Dhabi on April 10.
Josh Gross of Sports Illustrated tweeted that he was told Belfort needs emergency shoulder surgery. If this is true Belfort could be out for a long time healing  his injuries.Leaving a ton of questions for fight fans.

Chael Sonner just destroyed Nate Marquardt at UFC 109 and earned  the next shot at the title. I am now wondering what the UFC will do with this fight, find a replacement or reschulded the fight so Sonnen can have time to heal form his fight with Marquardt. I know Sonnen wants to get Silva in the octagon but April may just be to soon. Stay tuned for more info and it become available.

haha, i guess not that funny but he must have seen the new ufc cover with Anderson on it and got scared!lol. I’m looking forward to see Anderson back in the Octagon , hopefuly Dana and company can find a replacement for Abu Dhabi. Could Sonnen be ready in time?

Geoff Maia seems to be the replacement. Need time to process that info to see if I really want to see that fight. What do you think?

I feel a little torn. FACT #1 – Marq. destroys Maia.
FACT #2 – Sonnen Dominates Marq. for most of 3 rounds.
FACT #3 – Maia looked good vs. (Miller?)

How does that equal a title shot? I dont get it. Either my Math is wrong or Dana and company are trying to get Silva in the ring at 112 (Abu Dhabi) come hell or high water!!! I can see the sense of urgency to have him fight on such an important/ grand stage ( with the merger and all) but I just dont feel like Maia is the guy. I’ll be interested to see if it goes down this way or not. What a great opp. for Maia but really I cant see him winning or even being that competitve with the likes of maybe the Greatest MMA fighter in history the Champ Anderson Silva. People talk as if GSP might not be able to defeat Anderson I just doint know were that leaves Maia!!!!

What do you think mr.BAM!!!!!!

With Marquardt knockin out Maia, and then loosing to Sonnen I’m all twisted about this division and who actually even has a half way decent shot at Silva. Who knows maybe someone will get extremely lucky. It really wouldn’t surprise me cause sooo many great fighting streaks have came to abrupt end of the years. Faber, Torres, who else ? Franklin and even the great GSP got knocked out in a fight we all know he should have won. That’s the sport and that’s why we all love it!! With that being said it doesn’t mean that I think Silva is gonna lose anytime soon. I”m still pissed off about that fight Silva had with that other Brazilian till this day where the jackass laid on his back the whole time!!

Gotta love the ” any given sunday” aspect of the fight game…. however I just cant see there being any chance for Maia to win this fight. I sort of think hes a good fighter but against Anderon you have to think Maia wont be able to make him lie down on demand. Even if he does go to the ground boys, theres no way Anderson doesnt welcome Maia to the Matrix during the stand-up. Check out some of Andersons ground work on you-tube and hes no slouch there either. My predictions are not exactly spot on but I feel great about this on.
Heres my Line.
Silva -390
Maia +400

No easy money here.
