UFC Fight Night Live 19 Recap

by James on September 17, 2009 573 views to the Head

Hey fight fans, if you missed last night fights, WOW, you really missed some thing special. Fight Night Live 19 was packed full of action. With UFC 103 only 3 days away. It’s been a very exciting start to the week and can’t wait for Saturday to get here. Make sure you enter the UFC 103 fight prediction contest and you could win $50.

There was a lot of action last night so let get to it.

Nate Quarry vs Tim Credeur

This was an incredible fight! They stood in the center of the octagon and traded punches. Credeur drops Quarry and tries to finish him, but Quarry some how held on. The second round, Quarry is taking a lot of damage and then bam, he catches Credeur and drops him. The rest of the round was Quarry and some great ground and pound. The third round started the same as the second, Credeur landing hard punches on Quarry and then Quarry lands a hard right hand that drops Credeur. Both guys were on gasses at the end of the round and Quarry’s right eye was almost a swollen shut and turning purple. Quarry wins by split decision.

Carlos Condit vs Jake Ellenberger

They stood and exchanged in the center of the octagon. Jake took control and dropped Carlos with a hard right hand. Carlos gets back up and then it happens again, but Carlos survives and ends the round. The second round stared kinda the same as the first. Carlos took a lot of damage but survived. Then took control and won the round. The third round Carlos took control of the ground game and Carlos wins by split decision.

Roger Huerta vs Gary Maynard

This fight was slow getting started, but then it picked up. Maynard seemed a lot faster then Huerta. The action went back and fourth all the way till the third round, when Maynard took Huerta down. Maynard sunk in a sick kimura and it looked like Huerta shoulder was going to pop out any second. Huerta some how didn’t tap and gets out of it. Maynard wins by decision.

The Main Event

Nate Diaz vs Melvin Guillard

These guys talked a lot of crap before the fight and there was no love loss between these two. Nate was not doing so well with his “I’ll stop Guillard punches with my head technique” resulting in a huge cut above his right eye. Nate was on the losing end of the fight the first round. The second round was pretty much the same until Guillard has a moment of stupidity and was show boating. He fell against the cage and went for a take down but ended up in a very tight guillotine choke. Nate Diaz wins by submission 2nd rd.

Wow Nate Quarry’s eye was no joke, thats some Rocky shit right there.

Awesome night of fights, awesome! I really wanted to see Melvin win that fight, he was killing Diaz until he got dumb.
