GSP is at the top of his game. He’s a bright fighter who has amazing training. Learning his training techniques would be a real treat.

One thing about continues to amaze me about MMA fighters is the way they train. They are incredible athletes. Watching their training is insane. Fox news recently put up a piece about the type of training that Olympians do. MMA fighters have been doing this for a logn time. Check this out i think that the deadlift will really work ones quods well enough and the leg press as well,
but i guess i will have to learn one day because i want to do oly lifts when i get more advanced[/quote]

I you are looking to improve your speed or your vertical jump, then squats are not the most effective method. Squats hypertrain your quads, forcing a muscular imbalance. The number one injury you see are hamstring pulls or tears and it’s because you are not balanced correctly. Plyometric exercises such as box jumps, are far superior and safer to squats.

Another thing to consider is that more and more athletes are moving away from conventional weight programs. Heres’ the link to a news clip that discusses some of the newest methods.
