OK fight fans here we go! UFC 107 Penn vs. Sanchez Saturday, December 12th, live on Pay-Per-View from the Fedex Forum in Memphis, Tennessee.
BJ Penn is unbeaten in 8 years at 155 and puts his belt on the line against top contender Diago Sanchez. Penn has defeated all challengers at 155, fighters like Joe Stevenson, Sean Sherk, and Kenny Florian. Will Diego be the one to finally stop the reign of BJ Penn?
In the co-main event, Frank Mir will try to get back in the win column after losing to Brock Lesnar at UFC 100. Cheick Kongo is also looking for a win to move him up the ladder. The winner of this fight will be one step closer to a shot at the the heavy weight title.

BJ Penn(14-5-1) vs Diego Sanches (23-2-0)
There is no love loss between me and BJ Penn, he made #1 on my top 10 most hated MMA fighter. I am hoping Diego has the skills to dethrone Penn.
Diego has only two losses on his record, which come at the hands of Jon Fitch and Josh Koscheck. Koscheck just destroyed Anthony Johnson at UFC 106. Diego has improved every fight since winning the TUF. Diego’s last two fights turned into all out war with Joe Stevenson and Clay Guida. I think Diego had better be ready for Penn. As much as I don’t like Penn it’s hard to deny that he can fight and he will bring it against Diego. I just can bring myself to pick Penn, so I will pick Diego.
My pick: Diego Sanches 1st round TKO
Frank Mir(12-4-0) vs Cheick Kongo(24-5-1)
Frank Mir talked a lot of crap before the Brock Lesnar fight at UFC 100 and Brock made him pay for it, by punching him in the face until the fight was stopped. I know what he did after that was wrong, but he still whooped Frank’s ass. Frank has been very bitter about the loss and I would bet he is looking to show the MMA world he should be the UFC heavy weight champion. Frank looked amazing again Big Nog at UFC 92, where he stopped the fight in the second round with punches. I believe he was overwhelmed by Brock’s size and strength. I think with Kongo, he is better matched and should be able to showcase his skills a little better.
Cheick Kongo has some impressive wins over Hardonk and Al Turk, before he lost to Cain Velasquez at UFC 99. Kongo is a monster striker with 10 of his 14 wins by knockout or by TKO. If Kongo shows up to fight, this could turn out to be one of the best fights this year. Kongo is out to prove he is a top heavyweight contender and Frank Mir is just a stepping stone in his way. I would like to see this fight stay standing, but who rules the ground wins this fight.
My pick Frank Mir 3rd round decision
Jon Fitch(23-3-0) vs Mike Pierce(9-2-0)
Jon was on a 14 fight win streak before GSP finally brought it to an end. Since then Fitch has come back and put together two impressive wins over Gono and Paulo Thiago. Fitch loves to brawl and his record shows it, 10 out of his 20 victories are by decision.
Mike Pierce is on a 6 fight win streak with a huge win over Brock Larson at UFC fight night 19. Pierce likes to stand and bang so we should get some nice fireworks out of this fight. This fight will go for all three rounds with little work on the ground. Hard to make a prediction here.
My pick: Mike Pierce 3rd round decision
Kenny Florian(13-4-0) vs Clay Guida(25-7-0)
I am very exited about this fight. Any time Guida is in the octagon, you know there is going to be a great fight with a ton of action. You can only say that about a handful of fighters. Guida’s last fight was a crazy slug fest that went all three rounds, but Guida lost by decision to Dieago Sanchez at TUF 9 final. Guida is quick and very exploseive and will stand and trade with anyone. He had better get is ground game in order, because he will most likely be on his back with Kenny Florian.
Kenny Florian was on a 6 fight win streak until BJ Penn choked him out last in the fourth round at UFC 101. Florian has an impressive resume and has beaten fighter like Stevenson Hurta and Lauzon. Florian has a big advantage on the ground, but Gudia can rule the stand up game. The fight will be decided on the ground. I hate to go against my boy guida twice but I think Florian will domanate on the ground.
My pick: Kenny Florian 3rd round decision
Paul Buentello(27-10-0) vs Stefan Struve(22-3-0)
Paul Buentello hasn’t been inside the octagon since UFC 57, where he TKO’d Gilbert Aldana in the second round. Since leaving the UFC, he has had 6 fights, 5 wins and only one loss and that was to Strikeforce current Heavyweight Champion Alistair Overeem. Paul loves to stand and trade punches and if Struve decides to try and bang with Paul, I believe he will find himself taking a 60 second nap.
Stefan Struvejust had a awesome fight with Chase Gormley at UFC 104, where he ended up choking him out in the first round. Struve is 6’11 and anyone cought in a triangle could never escape. He will have to get this fight to the ground if he wants to win it.
My pick: Paul Buentello
Alan Belcher(13-5-0) vs Wilson Gouveia(12-6-0)
My pick: Alan Belcher
Matt Wiman(10-5-0) vs Shane Nelson(13-4-0)
My pick: Matt Wiman
Johny Hendericks(6-0-0) vs Ricardo Funch(7-0-0)
My pick: Johny Hendericks
Rousimar Palhares(18-2-0) vs Lucio Linhares(13-4-0)
My pick:Lucio Linhares
Damarques Johnson(14-7-0) vs Edgar Garcia(7-1-0)
My pick:Damarques Johnson
Kevin Burns(8-3-0) vs TJ Grant(14-3-0)
My pick:Kevin Burns
