First off, congratulations to ZXT, he is the winner of the MMA PUnk UFC 103 Fight Prediction Contest. He had a total score of 8 out of 12. Thanks to everyone who entered the contest, look for another fight prediction contest at UFC 105.
UFC 103 was incredible fight card, but the preliminaries bouts stole the show from the main card. The Franklin vs Belfort was over way to fast and Cro Cop looked terrible against Dos Santo. You also might want to read my 10 Most Hated MMA Fighter post and look for my UFC 104 fight prediction real soon. Here we go.
Rich Franklin vs Vitor Belfort
They started out very slow, exchanging a few jabs and maybe a leg kick. This went on for almost three minutes and then there first real exchange Vitor land a glancing blow that rocked Franklin. He went down and Vitor moved in for the kill and ended the fight. Vitor Belfort Wins by Knock Out at 3:02 in the 1st round. Knock Out of the night a $65,00 bonus.
Mirko Cro-Cop vs Junior Dos Santos
Cro Cop Seems almost out of place and very off balance. Cro Cop never unleashed his massive leg kicks. He threw a couple of head kicks, but nothing landed. Dos Santos was winning almost every exchange. Cro Cop was doing some crazy push off move like he was a amateur fighter. Cro Cop landed some nice shots on Dos Santos and made cuts over both eyes, but CroCop was losing the fight. The third round Cro Cop took some hard knees and punches and quit fighting, saying he could not see. Rumor has it he broke a bone in his face. Junior Dos Santos Wins by TKO (verbal tapout) at 2:00 in the 3rd round.
Josh Koscheck vs Frank Trigg
This was not a good night for Frank Trigg. His return to the Octagon was short lived he only made it a minute and twenty four seconds in to the first round before Kos knocked him out. Josh Koscheck Wins by TKO at 1:25 in the 1st round.
Martin Kampmann vs Paul Daley
Daley was a late replacement for the injured Mike Swick. Kampmann was having problems from the start. Daley seemed to overwhelm him. Daley kept landing a huge left hood that backed Kampmann up against the cage then unloaded with some big punches. The ref stopped the fight with Kampmann on his feet, some feel maybe a little early, but I don’t think it would have mattered. Another couple of big strikes and Kampmann would have went down. Paul Daley Wins by TKO at 2:31 in the 1st round.
Tyson Griffin vs Hermes Franca
Hermes had trouble making weight, he came in at 159 so he gave up part of his winnings to fight at a catch weight, which was agreed to by Griffin. Hermes has some really crazy hair, that was two shades of purple and I guess purple is not Hermes color because it did not help him at all. Hermes seemed slow and weak and maybe just a little out of shape. Griffin just torn into him and never let up. Hermes only made it a minute or so into the second round.Tyson Griffin Wins by Ko at 3:26 in the 2nd round.
Most of the prelims were Shown on Spike TV and if you missed them you really missed some of the best fights on this card. Spike will be rebroadcasting the fight in the near future and I suggest you watch them.

Very true. I think it’s the only time a fighter has recived both fight of the night and submission of the night.

Dos Santos v. Cro Cop was the fight of the night for me. Good action, very exciting third round, and I’m amazed at the toughness of Cro Cop for not being knocked out by all those shots he took at the end.

It was a great fight. Cro Cop has a head of iron for sure. I hope this will not be the last we see of him.

This UFC was more eventful more eventful than I had hoped for. What a disappointing performance from Cro Cop. My boys Koschek and Belfort came through!

I think we may has seen the last of Cro Cop and Trigg. Belfort looked real good and may get a shot and Anderson Silvia and Koscheck will still just be a punk. UFC 103 was a great fight card and I hope UFC 104 is just as good.
