UFC 102 Fight Recap

OK fight fans, UFC 102 is now in the books and if you missed it, you missed something spectacular. There was a history making knockout and Randy Couture proved that he is the toughest man in all of MMA. There was a lot of action so let’s get to it.

Brandon Vera vs Krzysztof Soszynski

The fight started out with Vera landing a huge leg kick to mid section of  Soszynski which backed him off in a hurry. That kinda set the tone for the rest of the fight.  Vera looked very good, his striking was amazing , Soszynski just could not deal with it. The judges scored the fight a unanimous decision for BrandonVera .

Chris Leben vs Jake Rosholt

Chris has been out of the octagon for a while and it really showed. Chris was definitely dealing with some ring rust. Jake landed a flying knee and blood starts flowing from Leben’s nose. They end up on the ground with Chris on top but could get nothing  going. In the second round, Leben just took a lot of damage and Jake ends up taking Chris down. The third round Chris looks gassed, Rosholt got a take down and chokes Leben out cold. Winner Jake Rosholt

Thiago Silva vs. Keith Jardine

They move to the center of the octagon and began to exchange. Jardine throws a kick and ends up on his back Silva on top. Jardine scrambles back to his feet as the engage. Silva lands a left hook and drops Jardine. Silva stands over him and drops a couple of bombs and Jardine is out cold.Winner Thiago Silva

Nate Marquardt vs Demian Maia

Maia starts out with a leg kick and then a high kick at witch point Nate lands a huge straight right hand that’s knocks out Maia in mid air.Winner Nate Marquardt.

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Randy Couture

Well if you missed this fight you will be kicking your self. Randy and Big Nog had a historical battle in the octagon. This fight will be talked about for a while. They trade punches in the center of the octagon and Nog drops Randy he moves in for the kill but Randy survives. They get back to there feet and trade punches, they end up on the fence Randy doing some dirty boxing landing some nice shots.

R2 Randy gets caught again and Nog move in for the kill, Randy survives again, but Nog has top position on the ground. Randy escapes Nog’s ground and pound, then lands some nice punches to end the round.

R3 They start to exchange in the center of the  octagon and Randy is taking alot of damage form Nog. Nog lands a left that drops Randy again and moves in for the kill dropping hammer fists but Randy survives. Nog keeps top position and tries to choke out Randy, but they end up back on there feet. They stand and exchange punches until the bell rings. Winner Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira

Mike Russow def. Justin McCully by Unanimous Decision
Todd Duffee def. Tim Hague by KO  R1. This was a new UFC record knock of only 7 seconds.
Mark Munoz def. Nick Catone by Split Decision
Evan Dunham def. Marcus Aurelio by Split Decision

Excellent fight recap James, I am still crushed by Randy losing, but in all honesty that was one hell of a fight.

Chris Leben got it pretty damn good too, but it was good to see him back in the ring even if he used it to catch up on some sleep.
