![]() Antonio Nogueira 6′ 3″ 240 31-5-1 |
The first time back in the octagon for both Randy and Nogueira. Both their last fights ended in losses, Randy to Lesnar and Noguira to Mir. I would except them to both show up in shape and go to war on each other. They both want to prove that it’s not their time to retire and that they still have what it takes to compete in the octagon. This could very well be the last time we see either one of these guys in the octagon. I have been thinking about this fight for weeks and I’m really having a hard time making my pick. Randy is one of the smartest fighters in the game, but Nogueira is one of the toughest. This fight should be something special.
My pick: Randy Couture
Live Results: 1st Round: Randy and Nogueira go back and forth. Nogueira hits Randy with a punch that dazes him and knocks him to the ground. Randy gets out of a choke that would’ve finished anyone else. Trading punches in the middle of the round. What a battle!
2nd Round: Nogueira on the ground with Randy on top. Randy does some ground and pound. Nogueira flips over and takes the top. Nogueira has Randy in a choke. Randy out of the choke, but still on the ground in a dangerous situation. Randy gets up! Going back and forth with the punches to the end of the round.
3rd Round: Nogueira knocks Randy to the ground. He’s surviving some serious punches on the ground from Nogueira. Randy keeps trying to get up, but ends up with Nogueira on his back. Randy gets on top, but he’s unable to do anything. Lands a couple of elbows, but it’s too little too late.
Winner: Nogueira in unanimous decision.
![]() Keith Jardine6′ 2″ 205 14-6-1 |
![]() Thiago Silva 6′ 1″ 205 13-1-0 |
I am so looking forward to this fight. Whatever happens, don’t blink because it could be over. Jardine’s last fight was with Rampage Jackson. He took Rampage the distance, but lost in a unanimous decision. Depending on which Jardine shows up – if the Dean Of Mean shows up – Silva will be in some real trouble. But if the Jardine that’s fought Wanderlie, Silva or Jackson, Keith may be in for a bad night. Thiago Silva is stepping back into the octagon after a devastating 1st round knock out courtesy of Lyoto Machida, the only loss on Silva’s record. I am sure that he will be looking for redemption, so there should be some great nail biting action. Add in some very nasty punches and most likely a highlight reel knock out. I better get a “Are you kidding me” out of Mike Golberg or I’m going to be very upset!
My pick: Thiago Silva
Live Results: 1st Round: Thiago takes Jardine to the ground. Jardine makes his way back up without any damage. Thiago knocks out Jardine.
![]() Chris Leben 5′ 11″ 185 18-5-0 |
![]() Jake Rosholt 6′ 1″ 185 5-1-0 |
I am very excited to see Chris Leben back in the octagon after his long suspension for illegal use of steroids. Even with the steroids Chris could not pull off a win over Michael Bisping and lost in decision. I hope he has been training hard and has the will to come back and fight up to his potential. Jake should be a good fight for Leben, his only loss was to Dan Miller with a 1st round choke. Jake likes to stand and swing because his last four fights, he finished with punches. I would except these two to stand in the center of the octagon and bang.
My pick: Chris Leben
Live Results: 1st Round: Leben and Rosholt go back and forth with kicks and strikes. Leben takes it to the ground and does some painful ground and pound. Rosholt gets back up. Rosholt takes Leben down and puts him in danger. Back up, Leben strikes with a vengeance.
2nd Round: Leben strikes back with a hard punch and takes it to the ground. Leben lands some painful shots to the rib and the head on the ground. Yves brings the fight back to the stand up. Leben with a combo punch, then head kick. Pins him to the cage and lands punches and foot stomps. Rosholt takes Leben to the ground. Leben gets back up and lands some hard punches.
3rd Round: Rosholt takes Leben down. Rosholt dominates on top. Rosholt puts Leben to sleep with a dars choke.
![]() Nate Marquardt 6′ 0″ 185 31-8-2 |
![]() Demian Maia 6′ 0″ 185 11-0-0 |
Marquardt has won his last two fights and has been looking very good. There should be fireworks in the cage during this fight. Maia is going to one of the toughest opponents Marquardt has faced in a while. Maia victories come in undefeated wins with impressive 1st round wins over Nate Quarry and Chael Sonnen. This fight should be exciting but I would except it to end up on the ground.
My pick: Demian Maia
Live Results: 1st Round
Live Results: 1st Round: Marquardt lands a big overhand right that knocks Maia out, 21 seconds into the fight.
![]() Brandon Vera 6′ 2″ 205 10-3-0 |
![]() Krzysztof Soszynski 6′ 1″ 205 19-9-1 |
Braondon Vera looked like he got his fire back in his last fight against Michael Patt. For a while there, Brandon seemed to be lost in the cage or just forgot how to fight. He could not finish a fight and had a hard time just engaging opponents. Brandon will have to bring his “A Game” if he plans on winning this fight. Krzysztof has the second hardest name to spell in all of MMA. He is also on 6 fight win streak with impressive 1st round wins over Brain Stann and Andre Gusmao. This should be a great fight and it’s very hard to pick a winner.
My pick: Brandon Vera
LIVE RESULTS: 1st Round: Vera and Krzysztof went back and force, but Vera dominated with some hard kicks. Vera pins Krzysztof against the fence and hits him with some up close kicks. Krzysztof outmatched thru the whole round.
2nd Round: Krzysztof lands a few hard hits and pins Vera against the cage. Krzysztof pins Vera against the cage and takes him down. Vera works his way back up, Krzysztof looking tired.
3rd Round: Vera trying to fight Krzysztof’s game, but overall dominating the fight. Vera lands a hard kick. Krzysztof keeps Vera against the cage. Vera takes him down and starts some ground and pound. Krzysztof gets up but then takes a hard kick to the head. Herb Dean pauses the fight for a low blow to Krzysztof. Vera dominates to the end of the fight.
Vera wins with a unanimous decision.
