The Ultimate Fighter 10 Recap

by James on December 6, 2009 32 views to the Head

Ok fight fans, The Ultimate Fighter 10 is now in the books and a new Ultimate Fighter has been crowned. This fights last night were very exciting and very strange. One of the very few times I have seen a DQ and who in the world would have thought the Kimbo Slice vs Houston Alexander fight would go to decision.

Dana White made an announcement last night that the new coaches for Ultimate Fighter 11 would be Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz. Chuck and Tito will battle again at the end of the season. I have to say at this point in time, I am not very excited about this. I would rather see somebody new coach on TUF and I sure don’t want to see Chuck lose again especially to Tito Oztiz.

Frankie Edgar(10-1-0) vs. Matt Veach(11-0-0)

R1. Matt Veach came into this fight  undefeated and showed why when me slammed Edgar to the mat several time. Edgar kept his co0mpousure and got back to his feet and landed some nice punches. Edgar showing he has the better stand up game at this point in the fight. Landing very nice combo’s and jabs.

R2. Somewhere about half way through the second round Edgar lands a sweet right hook and drops Veach. Edgar pounces on him starting some nice ground and pound. When Veach couldn’t take any more punches to his face, he turned and gave his back to Edgar. Well  I bet you know how this story ends. Edgar win by rear naked choke.

Kimbo Slice(3-1-0) vs. Houston Alexander(9-4-0)

R1. This has to be the weirdest start to fight ever. Alexander came out and just circled Kimbo over and over. Stopping only to throw a leg kick here and there. They engaged only for a few seconds, then Alexander got back to his game plan of circling Kimb0 and landing leg kicks.

R2. The action starts the same way but then Kimbo takes Alexander down and starts working some ground and pound. Then if you can believe it Kimbo gets to full mount, but Alexander scrambles hard to get out and gives up his back and Kimbo moves in for rear naked choke. They scramble back to there feet and clearly Alexander looks winded.

R3. Kimbo and Alexander were both exhausted and stood in the center of the octagon and slugged it out, with no gas in the tank neither had the power to end the fight. Alexander landed a leg kick and Kimbo went down but he recovered and took the fight back to the ground and pounded on Alexander. Kimbo Slice win by decision

Matt Hamill(5-2-0) vs. Jon Jones(9-0-0)

R1. They moved to the center of the octagon and start exchanging punches. Jones lands a great leg kick to the body of  Hamill followed by some nice punches. Halfway through the first round Jones sets up a prefect throw and move to the mount and just starts dropping bombs down on Hamill. Some where in the scramble Hamill dislocated his shoulder and  could only defend with one arm. Jones was  trying to end the fight and dropped a couple of illegal elbows that stopped the fight. The ref took away one point but Hamill could not continue and the judges disqualified Jones. Hamill win by DQ

Roy Nelson(13-4-0) vs. Brendan Schaub(4-0-0)

R1.They started out exchanging some punches and Schaub looked very good and relaxed. Roy and his big belly score a take down and start working some ground and pound. Schaub works his way out and back to his feet. The trade punches back and forth, Schaub looking very good and then Roy land a huge right hand and drops Schaub like a bad habit.

Roy Nelson win the fight by KO and wins TUF 10 $100,00 contract.

Kimbo needs a lot more work, but he has definitely improved his fighting skills. Kimbo finaly looked like an MMA fighter and moving to American Top Team has really helped him.

Jon Jones made Hamill look like amateur fighter. He dominated him in all aspect of the fight game. He lost the fight by DQ but he was on his way to winning the fight by TKO.

Roy Nelson is just a big  fat guy that can kick your ass. Despite his looks Roy Nelson can fight and his win over Schaub was impressive. I would look for great things from Roy Nelson in the future.

Mark Bocek defeats Joe Brammer by submission  rear-naked choke  Round 1

John Howard defeats Dennis Hallman by knockout  Round 3

Brian Stann defeats Rodney Wallace by unanimous decision

Jon Madsen defeats Justin Wren by split decision

James McSweeney defeats Darrill Schoonover by TKO  Round 3

Matt Mitrione defeats Marcus Jones by knockout  Round 2

The Kimbo fight wasn’t nearly what anyone expected, or could have imagined. I was so surprised to see Houston fight the way that he did. There’s a lot to be said about Kimbo, always. Good and bad, but there’s one thing for certain. He effects the people he faces. He doesn’t know this and he’s just good at that, but at the end of the day it’s fair to say that Kimbo Slice will get in your head. Ask Houston Alexander……

P.s. Kimbo was very impressive that night. The anticipation of his next fight will be fireworks. Watch.
