by James on February 2, 2010 10 views to the Head

According to MMA junkie. com the Strikeforce: Miami event that featured two title fights and the debut of  WWE star Bobby Lashley and former NFL great Herschel Walker drew total of 517,000 viewers on Showtime.

The UFC replayed UFC 107 on Spike TV to counter-program the Strikeforce Miami event. UFC 107 on Spike TV drew 2.2 million viewers and was the top-rated cable program among men 18-34 and men 18-49.

Strikeforce: Evolution  featuring Scott Smith vs. Cung Le and a lightweight unification title bout between Gilbert Melendez vs. Josh Thomson, aired on December 10 2010 and drew 341,000 viewers. Strikefoce Miami drew an additional 176,000 viewers for ratings increase of 51.6 percent.

Showtime is available in approximately 12 million homes. Spike TV is available in 98.6 million homes. Spike TV and the UFC brought in big numbers but Strikeforce put on a great show and gained a ton of new fans. Overall it was a good night for Strikeforce and Showtime.

I don’t know about you fight fans but I enjoyed the fight card Strikeforce put together and can’t wait until the next one. Strikeforce is headed in the right direction and 2010 should be a great year Strikeforce and MMA fans.

Which fighter impressed you the most at Strikeforce Miami?

No way he could have only made $600, that would be insanity. Talk about a guy loving a sport if it were in fact what he really earned, wow.
