The MMA Punk Sunday crunch is a short review of news from around the MMA world. This in my top five list of events that peaked my interest this week. Every one is talking about the Anderson Silva vs Demain Maia fight at UFC 112. Make sure to stop by and vote your opinion about this this fight on the MMA punk poll
5. RandyCouture vs Rich Franklin possible main event at UFC 115
Randy Couture at age 46 is still climbing the latter and could possibly take a shot at the title again. Randy last fight was against Mark Coleman at UFC 109 where Randy put on a strike display and finally landed a rear naked choke for the win. When is Randy going to call it quits? I believe only Randy knows the answer to that question. Rick Franklin being his next opponent is very intriguing and the more I think about it, the more I like the ideal. If Randy want to take a run at the title, Franklin would be a great win to have on the way up the latter.
To me this was devastating news, I was really looking forward to see what Belfort could do against Anderson Silva. Silva has just crushed everyone he has stepped in the octagon with. Who could forget the amazing beating he put on Forrest Griffin at UFC 101. I guess we will just have to wait for this match up to happen.
3. Coming soon: UFC 111: ‘St. Pierre vs Hardy’ to a Kerasotes theatre near you on March 27
This is great news for UFC fans that can’t make it the show. Now instead of going to a sports bar to get your UFC fix Kerasotes theatres are going to show UFC live on the big screen. Now fight fans you have some options instead of watching UFC at a buddy’s house or going to a sports bar you can go in and sit down in a nice comfortable chair and watch the UFC on the big screen. I like where this is going, it would be amazing to got watch a live UFC at an IMax in the new 3d. It would be better than really being there.
2. Gegard Mousasi splits with M-1 Global
Well who could blame Mousasi for leaving the the dirtiest promotion in all of MMA. Mouasai saw his opportunity to get out and he ran. The statement Mousasi sent out was all professional and fill with pleasantries. I have read other reports that M-1 never informed Mousasi that the UFC made him an offer. M-1 was not looking out for the best interest of there fighters only looking out for themselves. Witch sound about right when it comes to M-1. M-1 doesn’t care about anything but the money that’s why the keep there dog Fedor on a short leash. Making sure his decision are in the best interest of M-1 and not the fans.
1. Anderson Silva vs Demain Maia at UFC 112
This was a complete shock for for me. I thought for sure they were going to get Sonnen ready for this fight. Sonnen completely dominated Nate Marquardt at UFC 109 earning him a shot at the title. Sonnen was a little banged up and suffered a gash on his forehead from a nasty elbow from Marquardt. Sonnen could not get in a camp before April 10 so the UFC offered Maia to step in the the octagon with Anderson Silva, he jumped at the opportunity. Maia vs Silva has caught everyone off guard but I believe it will be an interesting fight come April 10.

Awesome! could you imagine a head kick KO in 3d, wow that would be incredible. I’m not keen on going to the theatre though, I watch with 9/10 guys and we have like 6/7 Joe Rogans in the living room, I couldn’t imagine a theatre full. I like having a cool one and the boys enjoy …well………….. you know………….. but for some fight fans I bet this idea would do really well. Gotta love the hype surrounding MMA right now. Oh and screw M-1 and screw Fedor for not being his own Sheppard. Fedor “the sheep” Emelianenko.
