UFC 109 will take place on February 6 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, with official match-ups of Randy Couture vs Mark Coleman and Josh Koschech vs Paulo ThiagoII now added to this fight card.
In the first time these two meet was at UFC 95, Thiago caught Koscheck was a nasty uppercut that ended the fight with a TKO victory. Since then Koscheck had racked up some impressive wins over opponents like Frank Trigg and his latest fight against Anthony Johnson at UFC 106. Koscheck made a huge payday for himself earning fight of the night and submission of the night bonuses totaling $140,000 plus his regular purse. Koscheck also called out Dan Hardy and said he doesn’t deserve a title shot with GSP.
Thiago (12-1) dropped a unanimous decision to Koscheck’s teammate Jon Fitch in July, but bounced back from his first career loss with a unanimous decision over Jacob Volkmann at UFC 106. Was there first meeting fluke or does Thiago has Koscheck number?
UFC 109 is expected to be headlined by Randy Couture vs. Mark Coleman and is also likely to feature Demian Maia vs. Dan Miller and Matt Serra vs. Frank Trigg. If you are looking for Vitor Belfort and Nate Marquardt at UFC 109 then you will be disappointed to know it’s not going to happen. I think that fight should happen and it could easily be the main event for a fight card. I’m having a hard time with Couture vs Coleman as the main event, it’s possible that Koschech vs Thiago II will be the Main event but nothing official has been reported.

I think Kosheck will win this one but Thiago is a heavy hitter too.

I hope Kos pulls it off but it’s going to be a tough one for him.
