Charles “Mask” Lewis was internationally known as the co-founder and face of the Tapout clothing line, but Charles was involved in a tragic fatal car crash in Newport Beach on March 11, 2009.

Charles “Mask” Lewis @ WEC Event – 11/04/08 in Hollywood, Florida

Known throughout the mixed martial arts community, Charles will be greatly missed and will not only be remembered for his outrageous outfits and insane face paint but for his energy and ability to hype up fans everywhere.

Witnesses who described the wreck claim they saw a red Ferrari and a white Porsche “spinning out of control” on Jamboree Road in Newport Beach, California around 12:57 AM. Charles was pronounced dead at the scene, a second person was injured, a third arrested for gross vehicular manslaughter and a fourth person who was detained by police.

A female passenger in Charles Lewis’s Ferrari was ejected during the accident and taken to a hospital where she is currently in stable condition. The driver of the Porsche has been identified as Jeffery David Kirby, a 51 year old from Costa Mesa, Ca. Jeffery Kirby’s bail has been set at $1 million. Along with Mr. Kirby, his female passenger was arrested for public intoxication but was released around 7:45 am and will not be formally charged.

MMAPunk.com would like to send our condolences to Charles “Mask” Lewis’s friends, family and fans all around the world. You will be missed, Mask.
