Forrest Griffin’s Book Got Fight?

by James on June 30, 2009 936 views to the Head

forrest-griffin-2It has been quite a while since I have been to Barnes & Noble. I went there to buy a copy of the premiere issue  UFC magazine. The magazine includes some great articles like the 20 greatest fights ever and a breakdown of every bout at UFC 100. I read a little bit of the magazine but something else was pullinh my attention. While at Barns & Noble, I stopped by the sports section, looked around and saw Forrest  Griffin’s Got Fight? I am a huge Forrest Griffin fan and I gave it a look.

I opened it up, read the inside sleeve and cracked a smile. I would tell you what it says but it will be better when you read it yourself. On the back, Joe Rogan, Chuck Liddell, Randy Couture and Bruce Buffer all praise Forrest and give his book a thumbs up. I bought it, returned home and looked through the UFC mag before picking up Forrest’s book.

From the very start, you know it Forrest Griffin’s book. Before you can even read the book, you must take a test to check your manliness. If  you are not manly enough you can not read the book, you have to put it down and slowly back away. This book is about guy stuff and let me tell ya, it really is. Hours went by and I found myself  lost in Forrest’s world. I don’t know if that’s a place you want to be. Forrest is a little crazy and has a unique out look on life and fighting. I could not stop reading  just to see what crazy shit Forrest would say next. Forrest is very funny and so down to earth, you can’t help but like him.

If you are a MMA fighter or fan I would highly recommend this book. Great in site on the mind set of a fighter and how they view the world. The first chapter is all about the mental parts of the fight game and how you must become a strong mental fighter as well as a strong physical fighter. I would tell you more but I will not spoil it for you, Go pick up the book and enjoy.

I would definately agree that Forest is down to earth and a very likeable character. He almost reminds me of a Rich Franklin, not the most gifted fighter but lotsa heart!Normally I hate reading unless it really peaks my intrest, this might be a book a can enjoy. A modern day Rocky Balbo.

Does anyone know what Forrest originally wanted to title his book? Was it “That Guy is my Hero”, The Ultimate Fighter, Did I just get KTFO’d?, or Who Moved my Nose? I’m trying to win a trivia argument. Thanks!
