OK fight fans here we go! On Saturday, March 6, 2010, Live at 10:00 pm on Versus, WEC invades Columbus, Ohio with a stacked card headlined by a world bantamweight title fight between champion Brian Bowles and number one contender Dominick Cruz. Former bantamweight champion Miguel Angel Torres takes on  Joseph Benavidez to start his climb back to a shot a the title. If the card wasn’t stacked enough we also get the return of the former UFC lightweight champion Jens Pulver. This fight card is going to be fill to the brim with a ton of action. Cruz vs Bowles should turn out to be something special followed by great match with Torres vs Benavidez.

MAIN CARD

•Dominick Cruz(14-1-0) vs. Brian Bowles(8-0-0)

Bowles first title defense should be a incredible fight. Bowles not only put up his title but he also puts up his undefeated record. Bowels’s last fight was against Miguel Torres where he just dominated the champ and at 3:57 in the first round KO’d Torres to take the belt.

Cruz has only one loss on his record and is on a five fight win streak. Cruz’s last fight was against Joseph Benavidez where he won by decision.

Cruz is very good and deserves a shot at the title but I believe Bowles has the tools to end this fight. I don’t think Cruz  can handle Bowles power.

•Miguel Torres(37-2-0) vs. Joseph Benavidez(11-1-0)

Miguel Torres’s last fight was against Brian Bowles, where he lost his title by a 1 round KO. Torres is looking to get back in line for a shot at the title with a win over Benavidez.

Joseph Benavidez’s last fight was against Rani Yahya where he won by a devastating knock out in the first round. Benavidez’s only loss on his record was handed to him by Dominick Cruz. If he had won the fight he would be facing Bowles and a shot at the title.

This should be fight of the night right here. Torres has got the true heart of a warrior and is looking to get back to his winning ways. Benavidez is looking for a win so he can get his shot at the title. Both of these guys like to throw hands and can get it done on the ground. I believe the winner will be the one who wants it more.

•Jens Pulver(22-12-1) vs. Javier Vazquez(13-4-0)

Jens Pulver has lost his last four fights, twice to Urijah Faber, once to Leonard Garcia and his last fight against Josh Grispi. This could be the last time we ever see Little Evil in the cage, if he can’t pull off a win.

Javier Vazquez has lost his last two fight against Devidas Taurosevicious and L.C. Davis, both by decisions.

Jens could make his last stand in the cage on March 6, so I bet he has hit the gym hard and will come out ready to throw down. Jens should have the advantage in the stand up game, but I will give the ground game to Vazquez. Because of all the great fights Jens has put on for the fans all these years I’m going to pull for him and hope he walks away with the W.

•L.C. Davis(15-2-0) vs. Deividas Taurosevicius(12-3-0)

L.C. Davis last fight was against Diego and he won by decision. A win here would move Davis one step closer to shot at the title.

Deividas Taurosevicius last was against Mackens Scherier and he won by decision.

Taurosevicius is not known for his great stand up game and this should give Davis big advantage. Taurosevicius is much better on the ground than Davis so this fight really come down to the old classic strike vs grappler.

•Karen Darabedyan(9-1-0) vs. Bart Palaszewski(33-13-)

Karen Darabedyan last fight was against Rob McCullough and he won by decision. He is on a 7 fight win streak and will be looking to make it 8.

Bart Palaszewski last fight was against Anthony Pettis and he won by decision. He does’t have the greatest record in MMA but he has fought some of the greats.

These guy are both equal on the ground and can both throw hands. This should turn out to be another great fight on this fight card.

Donald Cerrone(10-1-0)  vs  Ben Henderson ( 9-1-0)

Fan favorite Cerrone is looking to take the interim WEC lightweight championship, but Henderson might have a little something to say about it. Cerrone’s last fight was against James Krause, where he easily submitted him in the first round. Cerrone who is know to finish his fight might have a problem with finishing Henderson. Henderson is on a 7 fight win streak and is also looking to take the lightweight Championship. Cerrone will have the advantage in the stand up and Henderson has better ground game. This could be fight of the night.

Richard Crunkilton Jr( 18-2-0) vs Dave Jansen(12-0-0)

Dave Jansen has been tearing up the 155 pound class. His last fight was 22 second win over Amirkhan Mazihou at M-1 Challenge 17 in Korea. Crunkilton has not fought in the octagon since March of  last year. I wonder if there might be a little ring rust to worry about? Both of these guys are excellent on the ground and have decent stand up.

Damacio Page has one of the coolest nick names in MMA “The Angel Of Death.” Page’s last fight was at WEC 39 where he had a devastating knock out of Marcos Galvao, 18 seconds into the first round. Campuzano likes to stand and bang. This should turn out to be a great standup fight.

Mma weekly reports from Ben Henderson’s manager, Jason Genet, “Henderson had a slight physical issue that he had to deal with and the WEC and Cerrone were gracious enough to give us a little more time to make sure he’s 100-percent ready.” Genet said that he would rather not discuss the specifics of the injury.

WEC 43, originally set for Sept. 2 in Youngstown, Ohio, will be pushed back to Oct. 10 and likely move to a different venue. The fight card is not expected to change, especially the main event fight with Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone vs Ben Henderson to declare a WEC interim lightweight champion.

Well fight fans we will have to wait a little longer for this one. I was getting fired up about the main event, what a fight it’s going to be. Check back for more info.

In a crazy weekend of MMA, with shocking results of UFC 101, now we have the shocking upset of Miguel Torres. Brian Bowles became the new WEC Bantamweight Champion on Sunday in the main event of WEC 42. He knocked out 135-pound title holder Torres in the opening round.

Bowles rocked Torres early and laned a nice take down. Bowles appeared to be in trouble as Torres landed some very nice punches that forced him to back off. Bowles connected with a huge right hook that dropped Torres to the canvas. Bowles moves in for the kill and quickly finish off the champ with punches.

Bowles remains undefeated and improved his record to 8-0 after his first round knockout. Torres drops to 37-2 after having his 17-fight win streak broken. It dated back to 2004.

Bowles win the Knockout of the night winning him a extra $10,000.

Fight of the Night goes to Dominick Cruz vs. Joseph Benavidez both will recive $10,000.

Submission of the Night goes to Rani Yahya he will recive $10,000.

Miguel Torres Interviewed by Ray Flores. Miguel talks about his upcoming fight at WEC 42 against Brain Bowles. Torres the World Bantamweight champion eats punches for breakfast. Bowles hits hard but so do I. Every time he hits me I’m going to hit him 4 times. Torres is one intense guy and has proven to be the best pound for pound fighter at 135. Torres is one of the most dominant fighter in MMA with a record of 37-1-0.

What a great weekend of MMA. Saturday night August 8th will be UFC 101 and Sunday get WEC live from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vagas at 9:00 pm on Versus. I don’t know about you but I’m am very excited about this WEC event.

Torres puts his World Bantamweight belt on the line against the undefeated Brain Bowels. This is going to be a war. I bet this fight goes all five rounds. Torres has the experience and Bowles has the new fighter drive with the talent to push Torres. If Bowles plans on winning, he had better bring his A game and then a little bit more. Torres is no push over and will put Bowles to sleep if he is not careful. I expect a lot of action during this fight.

What a weekend we have coming up June 6th and 7th. We have Strikeforce featuring Lawler vs Shields and then on Sunday we have WEC Brown vs Faber 2. What a good weekend to be an MMA fan.

I have waited a long time to see this rematch. Was the first a fluke on is Matt Brown the real deal? I bet Leonard Garcia thinks he is. Brown smashed Garcia in his first title defense. Faber came back from his loss to Brown with a impressive victory over Jens Pulver. Can he win his belt  back or does Mike Brown have the Faber number?

Main card

Mike Brown(21-4-0)vs. Urijah Faber(22-2-0)

I am so excited to watch these two go at it again. Can mike brown beat Faber a second time or was the first time just luck? I am going to have to pick Urijah Faber.

RESULTS

Round One: They move to the center of the cage. Faber landing some nice shots on Brown. Brown eye is cut open. They end up on the ground both moving for position. I will have to give the round to Faber.

Round two: They trade punches in the center of the cage. Brown seems to be off  his game. Brown takes Faber down lands a couple of elbows. Faber trying to escape and get back to his feet.  They exchange a few punches but just battling for position. I will have to give this round to Brown

Round three: They move to the center of the cage trading a few punches. Faber seem to be landing more punches them Brown. They go to the ground and right back to the feet. Faber seem to be concerned about his right hand it might be broken. I have to give this round to Faber.

Round four: They are moving a lot slower this round. Faber hand’s is broken. Brown is out landing Faber. Brown wins this round.

Round five: In the center of the cage they trade punches and kicks. Brown takes Faber down and right back to there feet. Faber almost lands a choke but because his had is broken he can’t lock it down. I will have to give this round to Faber.

WINNER: Brown

Jose Aldo(14-1-0) vs. Cub Swanson(13-2-0)

This is a hard fight to predict. Swanson looked good in his last fight. I will have to go with Swanson.

RESULTS: WOW! Jose Aldo unloaded on Cub, TKO just seconds into the fight.

This will end up being fight of the night, right here. When these guys enter the ring there will be nothing but fireworks. I am going to pick Donald Cerrone.

Sorry Josh, but anytime Jens fight I will always pull for him. Jens is a great guy and I hope he wins. I do not want to see him beat bad, because it might mean the end of Jens fighting career. My pick Jens Pulver.
